I'm not a cs major so I was nervous going into coding because I had very little experience with code in the past. However the course material made me feel comfortable enough to jump in and be able to figure things out. Also including topics for the projects that are relevant to engineering made the course much more engaging.

This course encouraged working in teams and asking for help, and that helped me learn the majority of the material.

I think that the initial group assignments were a little bit confusing, but that's about all the critique I have, as the class was really good, otherwise. -- Siddharth Shekhar

First couple of weeks need revamping. Especially second studio. -- Ethan Clinick

I think that some of the content for the lectures was slightly unnecessary.

The recordings of the lectures were inconsistent, and the assignments directions were sometimes unclear. -- Christopher Vessely

Organize canvas better, make instructions on assignments clearer, don't change how groups are formed last minute

Poorly organized with ever changing assignment dates.

The course felt very unstructured, to the point that the TA's had little idea of how to run the recitations, which the professor did not address. There was an instance where the professor singled out a student and berated them for 10 minutes of the class. Beyond this, there were instances on the exam where material that was not covered would appear on the exam. Overall, the learning quality was poor due to the professors unprofessionalism and disorganization. -- Joshua Wernet

I think more trial and error practice in studios. The studios for the course felt like a lot of busy work. The balance must be hard because some students come in with a coding background and already know what to do, but for someone like me who had absolutely no background, the studios were usually the first time I had tried the concepts from lecture. Some of them felt a little rushed and like I could have benefited more from extra trial and error time.

The professor's expectations were unclear and changed a lot. He often went against what the class often shifted blame from himself and onto the students. I felt unheard and disrespected in this course. The professor often struggled to use canvas and many of his participation surveys did not work. This course gave me so much stress from worrying about things out of my control because the professor often spontaneously made up rules with little time to adapt. The final project was much more challenging than any other assignments in the course. If I didn't have teammates who already knew how to code before this class, I would have been much more lost and overwhelmed than I already was.

There seemed to be some issues with the assignments on Canvas at the beginning, causing some stress.

This course could have explained the concepts a little bit better

The engineering 100 series in general is a great big mess. I did not find that this course benefit me for the amount of time and credits it required. The 100 series does not progress in any convenient way. Each class is its own topic that has its own set of expectations and prerequisites. There are better ways to expose engineering students to different disciplines, the engineering 100 series is not it.

Professor yelled at me, hamulating me in front of the whole class. I was unable to come back without severe anxiety.

Organization is really the only issue. As well as making it a little more clear what would actually be on the midterm and going over it for more than 5 mins, (binary, in particular) -- Daniel Juliano
